Love getting real mail? Try Postcrossing

A month ago, I signed up for a postcard exchange program provided by postcrossing.com. You can check out the website for more information, but this is the jist of how it works:
1. Sign up for an account (which is free)
2. Create a profile which includes your address and a little about yourself, including the types of postcards you like.
3. Mail your first postcard, and when a user registers the postcard number, you are then the next person to get a postcard.
4. Receive and register your own postcard.

For those wondering, these are real postcards. You can find postcards in dollar stores, post offices, or souvenir shops to send.

The site has hundreds of thousands of users, which makes it more fun, as a postcard can come from anyone in the world. I also like that the site encourages postcards rather than letters. Writing a letter to a stranger can be a little intimidating. You just don't know what to say. But a postcard offers a small space to say a little about you, like your hobbies. The task seems easier, since sometimes just putting your favorite quote is enough. And of course, it's fun to look at the different pictures of places and things around the world.

Last week, I received my first postcard from a site user :D
It was from a lovely lady named Eva, who lives and plays the violin in Budapest. Eva and I have one thing in common: we both love resting, when we are not busy. I think the card she sent is perfect. It gives me a chance to see where she lives. 

Tuesday Treasures

What a charming summer it's been--picnics, beautiful rainstorms, sweets and the sweetness of friends. I will miss it.

I wanted to share a few delights I recently received from near and far this summer.

Letter from my pen pal

Whenever I see something in the mail, handwritten and well thought out, I grin--inside and out. My pen pal from Algeria sent me not only a lovely letter, but a seashell and treasures from her life as well. This is just one of the reason why I love having a penpal. It's like having someone travel to you with their heart. She used a calender as an envelope and I think this is a very clever and stylish idea, one that I will be borrowing. Thank you again for the wonderful letter.

Cutest little cupcakes

 Yesterday, while I was out Downtown, I stumbled upon a cupcake shoppe called Buttercream cupcakes that has some deliciously cute cupcakes. The flavors here are french vanilla (purple frosting), strawberry shortcake (pink frosting) and red velvet (white frosting). They are rich, and full of flavor. Though I will admit they are pricey. This batch was over $9.00

Accessories and deals

BCBG had a promotion where if you tried on a pair of jeans you got $10 off your purchase of anything in the store. That's how this cute rabbit ring end up coming home with me. Say hello to Mr. Hello. His expression is bit bewildered but I think he's very cute. He's also quite large. I have long finger and Mr.hello takes a fair bit of room on them and he has some weight to him. He's not heavy, but you do notice him there the way you would with a cocktail ring.

Tuesday Treasures

The week is off to a charming start. I loved last week though. We celebrated all things green and in my mailbox were words from far away, gentle and uplifting. I hope you too get to hear sweet words from someone in your life this week. I also got the chance to interview a very stylish and nice guy: Francesco of Youth Against Fashion. La semaine est un début de charme. J'ai adoré la semaine dernière si. Nous avons célébré tout vert choses et dans ma boîte aux lettres étaient des mots de loin, douce et tonique. J'espère que vous aussi l'occasion d'entendre des mots doux de quelqu'un dans votre vie cette semaine. J'ai aussi eu la chance d'interviewer un homme très élégant et sympathique: Francesco de la jeunesse contre le mode.


Youth Against Fashion Interview

Francesco of Youth Against Fashion was kind enough to let me interview him. He's a source of inspiration for me when it comes to style because he knows how to perfectly layer and combine unique pieces with basics. He is also a painter and his company INVERTED COMMAS offers simple totes with his creative paintings.


Green Drinks

My family normally doesn't celebrate St. Patrick's Day, except wearing the odd green thing. But we had a bottle of green sour apple mix and decided to have a mini family party. This mixer is declicious, but you have to dilute it with something because it is very sweet.


A Letter from My Penpal

My penpal Azed, sent me a lovely letter. Included with it was a postcard, and a splendid bookmark that she made herself. I love it! I wish I was creative in that way so I could make something equally as cute to send to her. I also wish I had more penpals, because I love writing and recieving letters.

I got a Liebster Award

I was not sure what that was at first, but it seems it is an award bestowed to blogs that you find motivating and/or inspiring with under 200 followers. I'm thrilled and humbled by the idea of anyone thinking this blog is motivating.

Dear miss fun fun

I'm glad you're not someone who doesn't mind me tagging along. Thank you for letting me spend time with you and your friends. It was feast of merriment. The waiter must of thought we were all pigs (^_^). Your friends were all sweet and it didn't feel awkward at any moment. Even though they're all busy, including you, they still put on their best smiles and showed a good time. You're my best friend and I'm glad you're in my life. If you ever need someone to overeat with, you know who to call.

Letter to a friend: short text = big smiles.

Dear Jack,

Thank you for texting me after lunch yesterday to see how it went since you couldn't make it. None of my friends showed up, but I had a blast with my sister's friends. It was such a simple act to text and check up on the event, but it was greatly felt and appreciated. And you were the only one that did it.

I know I could send you off an email to say this, but I wanted it to be somewhere that I could quickly turn to on days when I feel a bit alone to remind me that common courtesy still exists and small acts have enormous weight.

We don't see each other often and I know that I can't always keep our plans, but it's never because I don't want to. I'm very glad to know you and I wanted you to know that your little act made a big impact on my day.
